Therapeutic Massage & Wellness Center - The Massage Specialists - (804) 673-2936

At Therapeutic Massage and WellnessCenter, we refer to our therapies as complementary care, working with, but not replacing conventional medicine.  We strive to get to the source of pain and discomfort by working with you and encouraging your active participation in the healing process.  Whether what you need is an hour to yourself for complete relaxation and stress relief or focused therapy to relieve a chronic condition, we're here to meet your needs.

We are located at The Wellness Village at Starling which offers many integrative therapies including: Acupuncture, Pilates, Healing Touch, Medical Hypnotherapy, Infant Massage Instruction Classes, Detox Foot Baths, Nutritional Consults, Breast Thermography, and BodyTalk.  In 2011 The Village will be offering exciting new therapies including Yoga and Meditation Classes.

Massage therapy is a growing field that is used in conjunction with many other modalities to help heal the body.  The quality of care you receive is dependent on the proper training of the provider.  This is why, at Therapeutic Massage & Wellness Center, our staff of Massage Therapists are certified by the Virginia Board of Nursing and the National Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.

Our therapists specialize in many different styles of massage that range from basic relaxation to specialized relief for conditions such as:

Researchers have found that massage is helpful in decreasing blood pressure in people with hypertension, alleviating pain in migraine sufferers and cancer recovery, and improving alertness and performance in office workers. (Ref: University of Miami School of Medicine's Touch Research Institute).

An increasing number of research studies show massage reduces heart rate, lowers blood pressure, increases blood circulation and lymph flow, relaxes muscles, improves range of motion, increases white cell activity (enhancing immunity) and releases endorphins (enhancing medical treatment).
